2024 Nissan Altima Engine Options & Power
The Nissan Altima specs rely on one of two engines. The first is
standard on the Altima S, SV, SR, and SL: the 2.5-liter four-cylinder
engine that makes 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. This
engine uses fuel-saving technologies like a Continuously Variable
Valve Timing Control System to complement the power with exceptional
efficiency (see the MPG ratings above). An Xtronic CVT comes standard
and puts the power down smoothly at all times.
The 2024 Nissan Altima drivetrain harnesses this power through the
front wheels as standard on all models. However, the Nissan Altima SV,
SR, and SL can be equipped with Intelligent AWD to enhance your
traction capabilities. The Nissan Altima specs do vary with AWD,
namely slightly lowering the output to 182 horsepower and 178
pound-feet of torque for more stability; the same Xtronic CVT will be
equipped on AWD Nissan Altima models.
The 2024 Nissan Altima horsepower output varies the most when you
choose the Altima SR VC-Turbo. The 2.0-liter variable compression
turbo (VC-Turbo) four-cylinder engine replaces the 2.5-liter engine,
bringing the force of up to 248 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of
torque to your daily drive. This output is achieved when using
93-octane gasoline, but you can still use 87-octane gasoline and enjoy
236 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque.
The other way the Nissan Altima specs can vary is in the SR VC-Turbo
trim's transmission. It also has an Xtronic CVT but adds a manual
shift mode that can be controlled by the sporty integrated paddle
shifters.
